The first Church cum School building, a mud Structure was put up for the Catholic community by the Late Joseph Okolocha Ubanalu around March 1911. Subsequent Church/School Buildings were put up and Maintained by St Mary’s Catholic Church. The later was rechristened Egbengwu Primary School. In 1984 Egbengwu Primary School Collapsed in a Storm, The Egbengwu Community decided to replace it with a storey building. A committee was set up for the project with Late PC Odike as the Chairman, Late Fred Ubili as the Financial Secretary and Late Chief GN Anakor as the Treasurer, etc. The mandate of the Committee was to raise money for Project. Money was raised through donations, levies and Launchings. The Construction work was done through direct Labour.
